"I wanted to buy this medical
model, which demonstrates birth with skeleton parts--birth and
death. Anyway, the model is too expensive, so I decided to do a portrait
of it instead. As I sketched it became a Vanitas image, a la Hamlet's
speech that starts, "Alas, poor Yorick, I knew him well..."--js
